🔥 Get your boss to say yes with a "worry list"

It's been over 10 years since I started my agency and last week I shared the 10 hard truths I've learned along the way. Check them here.

What to Know This Week

Need help getting buy-in from your boss or client? Try my favorite "get what you want" hack: The Worry List.

Learning is growing and my favorite source of inspiration is other humans. Check this list of top people to watch that I crowdsourced from my followers.

We all know video is where it's at but how do you get started? Learn more from my LinkedIn Live this week. (Also check out around 25:00 for an example of custom stock video we created for my agency, Backroom)

How do you make more impact in leadership when leadership is the problem? I talked about this and more with Dan Albaum on his podcast Market Impact.

Can we stop ghosting each other? I get that it's uncomfortable but putting your own discomfort over what's right is... well, wrong. My biggest temptation for pulling a Homer in the hedges is embarrassment. What's yours?

Get behind the scenes of what I do all day.

We all love a good strategy but if it's too abstract for me to take action, I don't want it. Spare me your theories, I want super tactical things I can implement right away.

So every month, I'm sending you an actionable template with a video tutorial of the exact things I do day to day as a marketer, content creator, and agency owner.

Things like how I: build community, grow my social following, generate leads, build trust with my clients, measure my business performance, motivate my team, generate side revenue, and whatever else I'm working on to build my business.

Example of a monthly cheat. This one asks: What is a single statement that defines our ideal customer? It describes what an ideal customer is with some places you can look to define it.

Tutorial: ROI Calculator

Last week I posted this super simple ROI calculator I created for a 25 year old in my life who is starting up a nail business.

Our convo started like this:

Text exchange from someone asking: can you assist with exactly how one would calculate a return?

And so I made her this (click to make a copy for yourself):

Image of an ROI calculator, the top portion shows startup costs, and below the sales projections. Total profit appears at the bottom.

Watch how I use it here

This is a SUPER simple start to calculating return when you're starting something new. It's not a comprehensive look and you'll have to play with the numbers and line items. I found when I was getting started it was something super complicated like I needed an MBA or bust. Sometimes we just need something simple to help us start thinking.
